The Work is Never Finished: Prints, Drawings, and Paintings by Samella Lewis
Artist, educator, activist, art historian, and curator Dr. Samella Lewis (1923-2022) conducted the lion’s share of her life and career in the service of others: championing the work of other Black artists, battling institutional hurdles to create educational and professional opportunities for people of color, and pioneering the field of African American art history. Her own artwork, however, she made for herself. A self-described “artist out of necessity,” Dr. Lewis channeled her fury towards racial injustice into collective portraits of outrage, sorrow, and hope.

Leica Gallery Los Angeles Presents: Billy Zane — A Guy Walks Into a Bar…
Leica Gallery Los Angeles presents A Guy Walks Into a Bar…, an exhibition by Billy Zane exploring the idea that emotional response is transferable—how joy moves from subject to viewer. When laughter is witnessed, the body mirrors the experience, chemistry follows, and the image becomes an event. This show invites you to complete that circuit, experiencing laughter as a shared human exchange rather than a private reaction observed from afar.
M+B is pleased to present “We should be home by now,” an exhibition of new works by Leo Mock.
The sentiment in the title hovers over the autumn weatherscapes like a distant love—asking whether we should have reached something steady, meaningful, or grounded. Yet arrival is always fleeting, and home, if it exists, slips away the moment we try to hold it, as mutable as a cloud. Lifted from David Bowie’s Time, the title carries a quiet yearning that frames Leo Mock’s paintings, which feel both personal and cosmically estranged.
In celebration of the 2026 Lunar New Year, The Elder Statesman presents the Year of the Horse—crafted from the softest cashmere yarn with an intricate intarsia horse motif.
