A Letter from Our New Chair: Ginna Christensen

Ginna Christensen, Melissa Kite, and Shirley Shivan

The Design District is pleased to introduce our new Board Chair, Ginna Christensen. Currently the Creative Director of Woven Accents, Ginna began her career in fashion and has since cemented herself as an integral and innovative member of the LA design community and beyond. Through collaborations with emerging artists and non-profit organizations, to strategic brand and business development initiatives, Ginna brings a unique skill set and passion to our community.  Read her letter below, and welcome to the board, Ginna!

I am a design nerd.  Whether it’s a beautifully woven rug,  handcrafted piece of furniture, perfectly designed article of clothing, or an artfully plated dish of food, I have complete and total admiration of the finished product and its maker.  I have forged a career, one that began in fashion and transitioned into interiors fifteen years ago, and with every year, I fall more in love with what I do and with the community I work in.

I have always been fueled by a passion to give back, by working with charities like Inner City Arts and the Art of Elysium, by co-founding an organization (WAW) that supports women in business, and by implementing programing at Woven to engage the community in conversation.  It is because of this desire that I am most proud and excited to now be the Chair of the WHDD.

I look forward to an experience filled with collective brainstorming, innovative problem solving and new programing that benefits the district.  I thank you for trusting me with this great responsibility, and I look forward to doing everything I can to help grow awareness and support the growth of all of our business.
