Summer Skin Transformation at Facile Dermatology + Boutique

Tucked away in a courtyard off Robertson Boulevard in the heart of the West Hollywood’s Design District, the calming pale interior tones of Facile and cheerful modern artwork will immediately set you at ease. It’s as if you walked into your chic cousin’s co-op building in New York or Chicago but this is actually a dermatology office and boutique offering medical-grade treatment and products – just don’t call it a medispa. The sunny slightly East Coast sensibility is well-played by the owners Nancy J. Samolitis, M.D. and Danielle Nadick Levy, who originate from Illinois.

Facile has been treating famous faces for several years now with their easy and painless facility (that has already expanded to Pasadena), but they have recently added a facial menu that will help to transport your summer skin if you have overdone your time in the sun – or even indulged in too many poolside cocktails (see ‘pudge melter’ below.)

Led by medical aesthetician Caroline Godsick – who has the skin has that enviable dewy, flawless and glassy texture, will lead you through the facial menu to find just the right combination and potion for your skin needs.

Most of the options from The Clear, The Oxygen, The Perfect Fit and Facile Skin Infusion, all include a cleanse, exfoliation, extraction, massage and an algae mask. You can add on a red-light therapy for killing bacterial, a cooling cryofacial which will tame any redness after extractions or a scrub and dermaplane which gently removes dead skin. Godsick does not recommend a peel right after the summer. “Peels are best performed in the fall when patients aren’t exposed to sun exposure to avoid hyperpigmentation,” she notes. “The Facile Skin Infusion requires no downtime and is great for the summer to extract oil and infuse our skin with hydration.”

The cosmetic dermatology is performed by co-founder and medical director Nancy J. Samolitis, M.D., who will also tailor a product plan and regimen for your skin that doesn’t involve needles—though her favorite, micro-needling (with a micro-pen), is readily available for all skin types and ages with less downtime and at half the cost of other procedures. What the doctor ordered also might include laser therapy, micro-infusions or cyrofacials which adds liquid nitrogen to your facial to rid you of wrinkles, blemishes and age spots. The most popular treatments tend to be Botox, fillers and Fraxel laser (which is great for brown spots), or the Clear + Brilliant (aka baby Fraxel) or Facile Laser which heats up the skin with no downtime but will stimulate collagen and smooth out the complexion. Other hot items offered are stem cell PRP or platelet-rich plasma—not for the squeamish since it requires your own blood to be reused for healing the skin—or Kybella fat-reducing injections to combat a double chin – just look for “pudge melter” on the menu.

Dr. Samolitis is also an expert at treating rosacea, moles and a self-described “rash detective.” Be sure to visit the addictive product bar before you leave for a tailor-made box of goodies, including items from Facile’s own line, like the luxurious ‘Surreal’ cream and ‘Easy C’ serum. “We have a little bit of something for everybody,” she says. “Because good skin should be easy.” Words to live by far beyond the summer sunshine.
