Conceptualised as the unification of Yohji Yamamoto’s renegade design vision and adidas’ performance credentials – Y-3 has always explored the ever-unfolding threshold between the deeply human aspiration of sport and the poetry of clothing.
Now, the label opens its new permanent retail space on Melrose in Los Angeles. Emerging in the 1980s as the epicenter of self expression on the West Coast – a place where artists, musicians, skaters, and independent creatives coalesced – Melrose holds a transcendent place in the cultural imaginary. A new chapter, not an interruption, Y-3’s Los Angeles home arrives as continuation of the street’s inimitable legacy.
Framed as a site of cultural exchange, not a fixed showroom, the Melrose location represents a new physical blueprint for Y-3 as the label continues to expand its global retail presence: a stage where rebellion is transformed into architectural systems, where rails, plinths, benches and columns become monuments, where material imperfection is celebrated.
Located at 8500 Melrose, Y-3 Los Angeles opens its doors to the public from July 16th, 2026.
